Amid fears that the constitution would be drafted by “the usual suspects” — political elites — the designers of the new constitutional convention have taken steps to enhance what I consider to be three crucial pillars of democratic governance: 1) broad representation, 2) an inclusive process and 3) a forward-looking mandate.
